ModernMT is a translation service based on an innovative paradigm called Elastic Machine Translation, which guarantees ever-better translations over time. Unlike generic systems such as Google Translate or DeepL, ModernMT technology can generate translations based on the context phrases are found in and can learn from the feedback it receives in real time, without having to be trained on a large quantity of data.
In 2019, ModernMT joined forces with Moze to design and develop the UX for its web service.
Co-design Workshop
ModernMT asked us to create its public website, the purchase funnel for activating the service and the internal area reserved for customers.
We began the project with a Co-design Worskhop, preparatory to the front-end design and development process. The workshop enabled us to lay the design foundations for the entire application solution, while accurately estimating the time and effort required to implement it.
We designed the wireframes for the main product screens and created the technical solution for the front-end web application.
As for the technology, we chose Hugo as the content management system (CMS) and React as the JavaScript library to build the main dynamic and interactive components of the web application.
In the meantime, we designed and implemented a landing page for the public website, to let the ModernMT team get started on lead acquisition.
Sviluppo Agile
In the development phase, we applied our Agile development process.
We created a temporary team dedicated to the project and distributed the features to be developed across sprints lasting two weeks each.
In just over three months, we designed and developed the website, the purchase funnel and the customer area.

For developers
One year after the launch of the ModernMT web application, it was necessary to publish the API documentation online, which allows developers to create automatic translations in REST mode or through an SDK (Software Development Kit) for Node.js and Python.
For this purpose we have created the website modernmt.com/api. We have developed the site using the Slate framework, enriching it to obtain an optimal User Experience based on the needs reported by the ModernMT team.
