A new positioning
Cantina dei Colli Ripani is an Italian cooperative winery based in the Marche region that brings together more than 330 small producers. The winery produces and markets the best-known indigenous wines: Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Pecorino and Passerina.
After almost fifty years of history, in 2015, Cantina dei Colli Ripani began a thorough revision of its brand identity to position its products as exceptional also in terms of design. The success of the operation, led by creative director Andrea Castelletti, was soon confirmed by important prizes awarded by prestigious organisations, including Vinitaly, the world’s leading wine event, which awarded the Cantina dei Colli Ripani bottles the Label of the Year 2015, the Special Packaging Award 2016 and the Label of the Year 2020.
The choice of e-commerce
In parallel with the brand identity revision process, the winery decided to start selling online and chose Moze as its partner for the design and development of its e-commerce site.
In 2015, we launched the first version of the Cantina dei Colli Ripani e-commerce site. The winery’s aim was to start approaching online sales gradually, without immediately turning it into a mainstay of its business. For this reason, the website had to prioritise an ‘impressive’ user experience that would enhance the recent redesign of the visual identity. The site we created was cited as an example of design by various specialist publications and received an Honorable Mention from Awwwards, the leading award for creativity on the web.

Creative DirectorThe second e-commerce site
A few years after the creation of the first e-commerce site, in 2020, Cantina dei Colli Ripani asked us to create a second version, more focused on sales.
We have designed the new layouts with a strong emphasis on the products that can be purchased online right from the home page, but without sacrificing the characteristic elements of the brand’s visual identity.
Compared to the previous site, we have simplified navigation and strongly optimised the user experience for mobile devices.
The technological choice: Shopify
In 2015, we decided to base the Cantina dei Colli Ripani website on Shopify, a cloud-based e-commerce platform that can be used in SaaS (Software as a Service) mode, i.e. by paying a monthly fee.
Shopify allows total freedom in designing the front-end of the site (the interface visible to users) and at the same time overcomes many of the problems associated with setting up and maintaining a server infrastructure. For these reasons, we considered Shopify to be the ideal e-commerce platform for a company wishing to approach online sales without excessive computer complications and concentrating its efforts on creating an original graphic interface, qualitatively in line with the visual identity of the brand.
