Tailor was founded in San Francisco in 2023 by Vittorio Banfi and Emanuele Capparelli. It is an AI assistant available for free on the web and iOS. Tailor sift through 1M pieces of content every day, and highlights the most important news of the day, personalized to your interests. Tailor uses AI to identify false or misleading information and highlight what to pay attention to. On the go? Tailor generates a podcast just for you.
Once upon a time
We already had a long history with Vittorio. The last mile done together before Tailor was with Botsociety, the conversational design suite – and a 500Startups company – that he started developing in 2017 and sold to Google in 2021. Over those years we had the privilege of working with the Botsociety team as a UX partner.
Making news suitable for contemporary human beings
In spring 2023 Vittorio introduced us to Emanuele Capparelli, a former aerospace engineering researcher at MIT who later converted to a software engineer. The two new business partners showed us their ambitious mission: fixing media with AI.
For us UX guys, the Tailor project was too good a challenge to pass up – we jumped on board without thinking for a moment.
We sketched a fresh and friendly visual identity and designed an app based on the concept of a personal assistant, which offers you an audio and video daily digest based on your interests and the time you usually have available to get information. Just like the USA President’s Daily Brief, you know?
Tailor launched publicly in March 2024, and that’s just the beginning.
