Edulia

An online learning space by Treccani

Edulia is a product of Treccani, Italy's most famous encyclopaedia. The e-learning portal is a hub for formal and informal education, offering solutions for schools, teachers and young people, with the mission of spreading knowledge, skills and reflections for the contemporary world.

Understanding the users' needs

The Edulia team was looking for a modern, simpler interface and a solid design system to make the Edulia brand recognisable and usable across every touchpoint. By studying and reviewing various interviews and rounds of user research carried out by the Edulia team, we were able to gain a deep understanding of the users' needs.

Starting from the research insights extrapolated from this phase, we were able to identify the various pain points and structure the roadmap for the redesign, focusing our attention on all the UX flows that could be improved and optimised.

Rethinking the UX

We worked on many aspects during the UX review phase, starting with the information architecture, which we redesigned together with the Edulia team to tidy up and streamline the navigation menu. We focused on the course archive, reorganising the category filter system and designing more balanced cards, but also on the individual course detail page, to which we added a video preview.

The video player is the key feature of the platform for users. It has been completely redesigned as a new customised component, allowing users to follow their chosen course, navigate between the different chapters, and consult all the teaching materials related to the course.

A new look

We didn't just redesign a website: we carried out a complete rebranding, involving various platforms and touchpoints thanks to a design system.

The design system we implemented was not only the best way to ensure consistency across the Edulia app, but also a gateway to the creation of a second platform (scuola.edulia.it) designed specifically for teachers and pupils to facilitate digital education. fatta appositamente per insegnanti e alunni per facilitare l'educazione digitale.
